AcornCD

I recently had occasion to rip one of my CDs, which I haven’t done for some considerable time. My own CDRipEnc application normally uses AcornCD to look up the CD details, so the files can be named and the v1 and v2 metadata added automatically. However, I found that AcornCD couldn’t connect to the data base. It normally used uk.freedb.uk as its database. Have the free cddb type databases now vanished (trying to ping the freedb gets a ‘no address associated with name’ error)? Does anyone know of any other cd databases that will work with AcornCD?

Freedb.uk ceased to work a while back.
