... for giving me a reason to come back to RISC OS! This is an amazing project that I’ve been watching from afar for the last couple of years or so and it really seems to be coming to fruition so now is a good time to come back. As a mainstream, commercial desktop OS, RISC OS was going nowhere IMO - but as a shared source OS, it now has goals and a future which is fantastic. I’ve just a couple of questions: 1) I know the Documents section isn’t fleshed out yet and people are working on it but I hope there will be emphasis in there regarding the Style Guide. I know that things have changed a little since it was written but it still forms the foundation for the way things should be IMO and I think we should only tinker with it slowly and carefully. 2) Have Iyonix Ltd given the OK to 5.14 yet? I hope to get involved and help with the project in some way in the near future. Congratulations to all involved on your work so far. Gavin |

I’m interested in working on a new Style Guide, and collaborating with anyone else who’s interested. I agree about going slowly, and keeping any changes to a minimum (and agreed by the key developers before being settled). There are exemplars of design like ArtWorks and NetSurf which we could refer to. However, before rushing in, I think we do need some clarity on whether the existing text of the PRMs, Style Guide, Toolbox manuals, etc. can be edited and posted on the Wiki. Probably best to continue any discussion of this on the ‘Documentation’ thread… |

We’re also looking into the above. We will let you know how we get on… Next time I speak with Castle, I will ask about RO 5.14, too. |
