The link to the Textile reference now leads to an expired domain. Maybe this page is a suitable replacement? |

My view too. The advice that a patch for the site code would be the thing to do seems a bit picky since the code here has a set of three lines at the end:
So the change amounts to
http replaced with hxxp to stop Textile buggering things up |

I suspect it’s also more likely to elicit change than starting yet another thread here that ROOL probably won’t see/ read/ remember to act on when they have some spare time. Shouldn’t we also (perhaps in preference) link to https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Forum, as this can be edited easily to address local issues? So something like

Largely academic, since we can’t edit the start point: “See also the Textile reference here.” |

I noticed while editing a wiki page that there’s also a dead link there (in the ‘Edit page’ view, and also under ‘advanced tips’ on the right of the create page view). So if you’re putting together a patch it’d be worth finding that too and not focusing on only the forum. |

<cough> https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/2/topics/16871 </cough> Of course, it’s probably not helped that it’s all being held together by gaffer tape expertly applied by one heroic person trying to tame a mishmash of forgotten projects written in a language nobody else understands… |

The Wayback machine has preserved the redcloth.org site including the dead linked Textile quick reference page |

Sort of like taping and gluing together an old mug – it’s never going to be what you really want, and a new one would probably be dishwasher proof. In this case: the textile-lang.com has a better layout, more info, clearer examples and even an interactive test panel for each element. What’s not to like? |

For all the people that don’t have access, what the site is written in and how it could be edited is pretty much irrelevant. For those that do, then this is applicable for the future, but it would be the live site that needs editing for immediate effect. Scanning the source from the CVS it looks like there are three files with the offending textile reference in them: https://www.riscosopen.org/tracker/repository/file/rool/rails/beast/trunk/app/views/posts/edit.rhtml |
