For what it’s worth, my Pi 2 (static IP) boots to desktop in about eight seconds. I even had it doing that in a recent video I put on YouTube.
If it takes thirty, that’s probably DHCP bring tedious.

Key takeaway: if RISC OS had a capable browser and Wifi, it might even survive the first contact with many first-time users. Probably not the second, though.
