Has anyone had a go at translating GAG news Pdf’s into English – making use of AI or is that a oxemoron :-) |

There’s a translator called DeepL which gave me better results than Google Translate going from French to English. I believe it’s a German software co. so presumably would do a good job on German also. The basic version is free but the Pro version is not expensive and offers useful additional facilities. It does ‘learn’ in use so I imagine there’s some AI. |

I note that it doesn’t allow configuration for translation of US “English” to UK English. Maybe somewhere round the 100th generation? :) |

It does have an API so I might have a little play with that at some point in the future. |

I have play around with curl and a free user account. Is working without problems. You find the curl syntax in the DeepL excamples. |

Hi, you are surely aware that GAG-News is subject to copyright and thqat that passing on the PDFs is not permitted; the GAG DVDs offering the PDFs do contain a corresponding copyright note and the PDFs (except for a few for Cloverleaf) are not available online for download. So if someone does indeed consider translating the PDFs I am sure that person will be in touch… as well as anyone considering passing on the PDFs. I am sure that this is ok with everyone since GAG-News is a lot of work (as a matter of fact the current issue is the one where I reach the level of having published GAG-News bi-monthly half my life) so that the odd revenue for that work by subscription or purchasing the DVD with back issues is acceptable. Thanks! |
