Upgrading to 5.21

I thought it would be helpful to note a couple of pitfalls when upgrading a Pandaboard ES from 5.19 to 5.21. Download the latest rom – it is 5.21 even though it says 5.19 Copy the new rom image ‘riscos’ into !Boot.Loader (assuming you have a dual or triple partition SD card) Switch off the pandaboard (don’t shut down). Start up the Pandaboard – you should get the error ‘No support for 5.20 please reload HardDisc4’ Download HardDisc4 – the ‘util’ version is not currently working (gives error message part way through unzipping) but the tar version is OK. Copy your existing !Boot directory into ‘OldBoot’ (just in case). Set copy options to Verbose and Force. Copy the new contents of HardDisc4 onto the SD card overwriting any out of date bits. Reboot. All your previously added apps should still work. You should now have all the latest bits and pieces that you have been waiting for. If you have upgraded from SparkFS (reead only) to the full version then be careful not to lose it (the read only version will be copied over it). Sound seems to play a little bit too fast now (was OK in the 27-Sep-12 5.19 rom I used before) but otherwise there seems no problem (CTRL-SHIFT-f12 still causes a hang but that seems to be a hardware problem rather than a software one – pity)… |

Thanks for this info. But where is the stable release 5.20? |

Being tested. Development builds will now therefore be 5.21 (requiring HardDisc4 to be updated for them to run). |

A bit more information:
Run the obey file here:
and that will get rid of the redundant stuff in the disc image that is no longer present or needed on 5.2x |
