The reason for establishing ARM Ltd was, as I recall, a wish from Apple to use the ARM CPU in their total market-flop “Newton”. So by rights ARM should be owned by Acorn PLC who held some 47% of the ARM Ltd. stock. For which they were killed by greedy stock holders. And a most inventive Team with it. I still grit my teeth over that affair. |

Pretty sure if Acorn Computers still existed, they would have moved on from RISC OS based computers long ago. Look at Microsofts efforts with Windows 10 Mobile, finally got something right, but way too late and with too little real desire to invest properly, so it died off. |

The loss of Acorn was bad enough. The UK Gov then allowing ARM to be sold off overseas, etc, was a triumph of spivdom over national interest. |
