ABCcompiler and ARMinix

Dear all,

Since one day I’m the happy owner of an ARMiniX, but at the same time I’m sad about the loss of the ABCcompiler. Mine is several years old, but it always served me well. Unfortunately, it doesn’t run on the ARMiniX. Can this serious problem (serious for me!) be solved?

Which version of RO and ABC – and what are the problems?

It’s RISC OS 5.19 and ABCcompile 4.14 (16 Jan 2003). Apologise for not mentioning it immediately.
RComp told me that someone else is using ABCcompile happily on his ARMiniX, so I suspect there probably is a newer version of ABCcompile…?

Did a quick run here with SA RPC RO5.21 (12 Aug 2013) ABC 4.12 (29 Oct 2002) -seemed to be still working ok.

What are your problems?

RComp told me that someone else is using ABCcompile happily on his ARMiniX, so I suspect there probably is a newer version of ABCcompile…?

I do have a copy (legacy reasons) but haven’t yet tried it on my ARMiniX. I’ll check when I get a chance.

Just tried ABC 4.14 on my ARminiX

It worked provided I used Aemulor Pro to run it. However I only tried one quick test. Seemed OK, but there may be snags I’m not aware of.

Address exceptions, and all that.

However , running it under Aemulor Pro solved it, as Jim already mentioned.
Nevertheless, I would love to see an updated version that runs natively on our new hardware. Is ABC still being maintained? If so, I may have one ore two little bug reports that might be worth looking at.
