Black border around desktop

Is there any way of getting rid of the black border around the RISC OS desktop image on my Rpi? By playing around with the Configuration…Pinboard options I’ve messed up the default green screen showing the Raspberry Pi logo and I don’t know how to get it back again. Any ideas? Credit to the ROOL guys who have put a compatible version of RISC OS (5.21) on an SD card for Pi users. Plugged my card in and after a few seconds the familiar desktop displayed – excellent effort. |

Hi, to the config.txt file (perhaps seen in Filer as CONFIG/TXT) in $.!Boot.Loader Hope this helps, |

That works perfectly – many thanks. Another issue – for some reason although the Boot screen is displayed at full screen the desktop now displays 256 colours at 640 × 480 at 60Hz. If I change it to 16 million cols, 1920 × 1080 at 72Hz the full screen resolution is displayed but the next time the Pi is booted it returns to the low res state. Save CMOS doesn’t seem to have any affect. Any thoughts? |

Have a look at the file: It should have a couple of lines in this sort of format: If it has vertical bar characters at the start of either line remove the character(s) save the file, and then menu button click on the saved file to bring up the file menu, follow the access option arrow and set the file to locked. There’s something in the boot sequence that detects a change of OS revision and resets the CMOS and monitor settings – this was useful back when the OS was in a genuine ROM in a standard machine and didn’t change for long periods. |

The L in LoadModeFile is replaced with a vertical line if power on Delete (and R?) is done If that is the case replace the | with L |

Steve you are absolutely correct – the lines LoadModeFile BootResources:Configure.Monitors.Acorn.Generic were missing. Reinstating and setting the PreDesk – Monitor file to locked has done the trick. Re-boot now remembers this setting :-) You’re CMOS explanation is also very useful. Just a very minor and I’m afraid trivial thing – how do I reinstate the green RISC OS Pi backdrop? It’s just occurred to me that not all users will have purchased the ROOL SD ROM so may not see this. It made the desktop significantly different from other RISC OS backdrops but I’m sure if I get it to work again I’ll soon get bored and replace it with images instead. |
