Is it just me?

I get pretty excited reading posts containing info on all the techincal work being done to RISC OS. Anyway, good work guys, it looks like a lot of progress has been made from all your hardwork. |

Yes, I think it’s excellent work. The ROOL team have performed miracles getting the various technical and legal obstacles sorted out, and Jeffrey Lee and others have been similarly impressive in making progress towards a port to newer hardware. I do worry a little that some of this work might be less than obvious to the wider RISC OS community, which apart from ROOL’s efforts and a couple of other things (NetSurf, RPCEmu) seems almost dormant at the moment. I’m hoping getting a full, working copy of the OS on to either an OMAP-powered device or an IOMD-class platform (like RPCEmu) will stimulate some activity on the application side and generate some enthusiasm for more application/OS development. |

Yes, I’ve been thinking about how to promote RISC OS a bit too. One of my ideas, to hit two birds with one stone so to speak, is to do a regular youtube video detailing all the stuff going on with the RISC OS/ROOL. Updates, screenshots, little interviews perhaps. Not only would it complement drobe etc, it might help gather some interest to the wider community. I just wonder whether there is enough news to justify it though. |
