Hi, I found the store list but I want to install python, and I have one more question, What is RISC OS made by like some of them are python and stuff and can you change setting to your liking, like the desktop gui and windows colors like you can use in linux, And I was wandering If I have made my own GUI Shell how can I run it after RISC OS starts up. Can someone give me a description of all this operating system can do for my pi like hacking and stuff. thanks Andrea |

One? :)
The core element is in a ROM image compiled from C and assembler, best not to go there until you know much more. However other elements are in the disc loaded portion which is a mix of compiled items, BASIC and obey files (simple scripts), If you haven’t come across BBC Basic before it may surprise you with how easy it is to achieve things.
Themes. I assume you have the NOOBS image loaded. You should find the information in the documents on the Pi.
Again all this should be covered in the documents on the Pi. Read a few and then come back and ask questions about bits you don’t understand. |

ok sorry about asking so much I just have not used this os before, I like this one because its faster then the others, And I know how to program Iv been programming for along time now, I’m going though the documents from from NOOBS now, I’m just trying to find a os for the pi that i can do programming and some small hacks on and using it for projects and stuff, Just to mess around on the pi I have a media center and a weather maker so I know a lot about the pi, I just want to go further with the pi. Thanks Andrea |

Probably because it is the original OS for ARM, the two sort of grew up together then the ARM went off travelling…
RISC OS is hackers heaven, as various reviews have put it you are free to do almost anything on the machine, including screw up the OS. But then it’s on a quick to copy SD so you make a copy before you start and don’t worry about the breaking bit. |

And hacking around with it should draw more people’s interest. I hope you discuss your hacks far and wide, so others give it a go too! |
