Editing the Wiki with NetSurf

I’ve been having a look at why its not possible to edit the Wiki with NetSurf. Its due to the ‘forms_spam_protection’ plugin in Instiki 0.19.×. It seems to need a level of javascript that NetSurf doesn’t provide. I found if I comment out the following in ‘app/controllers/application_controller.rb’, # protect_forms_from_spam Netsurf can then be used to edit and save changes to the wiki. I’m not sure what the consequences of doing this would be with regards to spam. Maybe more people will update the wiki if they could use NetSurf. |

Isn’t the Wiki already protected by users having to login? Or am I being hopelessly naive here? |

Can’t speak for this wiki, but on mine I had to hack the wiki code to hide the signup page. The login was a maths question (not a captcha) and I received regular new users and spam in their user page. The only thing that stopped the main wiki being messed with was that global edit permission is not allowed by default. I removed the sign up link and they kept on coming to tout rubbish like toe rings. |
