Latest Pi firmware?

Hi, I originally made my Pi’s SD card image about 6 months ago. I have updated RISC OS but not the Pi firmware? Is anyone using newer firmware – ie is there newer firmware on the latest SD image, or has anyone installed more recent firmware? Are there any clear benefits from doing so? In particular I am after any improvements to support 2048×1156 mode support. |

I’ve been using firmware from around the 30th March without seeing too many issues. I’ve got no idea if the latest firmware fixes 2048×1152 mode support. |

Indeed – I knew it wasn’t displaying correctly previously; just wondered whether updates to the Pi firmware recently had changed that (we have now had a further RC release with updated firmware etc and others might be using more recent firmware still. Without getting a definite benefit from replacing the firmware there is probably little point in updating it otherwise. Just hopeful as the panel’s ‘preferred’ display mode is 2048X1152, and I’m about to try something out where having a useful preferred display panel mode is a Good Thing™. Or rather, having a mode which is reported as valid but is actually broken is a Bad Thing™. |

William: My posting was meant as an encouragement to try the new firmware preferably under Linux as well as RISC OS. |
