EtherUSB & Raspberry Pi Compute

Further to my posting that modern USB to Ethernet adaptors will not work on the Compute module.

I contacted James Peacock who wrote EtherUSB, he replied
Are the devices recognised by EtherUSB? If see the !ReadMe for how to add
vendor/product IDs to those recognised by EtherUSB. If this gets them
working, then submit them to ROOL to be included in the build-in list.

If the devices are in the list of vendor/product IDs EtherUSB recognises
but don’t get picked up then it is likely that EtherUSB is failing to
initialise it. My original version output info to syslog when a recognised
device is plugged in, I don’t know if that is still the case in the ROM
versions, but it may offer some clues.

Much as I’d like to, I don’t really have the time to work on it at the
moment, even if I had a reliable RO set up on which to do it.

We’ve tried each of the above with what seemed the most appropriate backend
e.g. the ASIX units with AX88172 & AX88772

Also tried with an Iyonix, the interfaces disn’t tend to stiff the Iyonix
but the interface wadn’t listed under *EJInfo

I have a “USB 2.0 Port Replicator II” that has a 4 port USB hub, two PS/2 ports (unused), a USB to serial port (unused Prolific) and a USB to Ethernet port, that works fine. It is powered.
I noticed that EtherUSB from the AutoSense directory didn’t pick it up, meaning it didn’t show up in Network Configuration, so I looked at the BASIC involved.
The original looks into a temporary file for a string "Unit " at the start of a line.
If you do EJInfo, no such line is there.
I changed the BASIC to look for "Interface unit ", and changed the string lengths/positions to 15.
That worked fine.
