Formatting using HFORM

I am trying to format a memory stick to ADFS standard using the HFORM utility but no matter what settings I try the stick never actually seems to format, the old contents are still on there, can someone please help. Perhaps when first prompted for A, S or M is the confusion as the second and third option refer to SCSI and SDFS respectively but not something beginning with M. |

Are you sure you have selected the right drive? I agree that !Hform is a terrible user experience, namely the A/S/M prompt not being a helpful and I have nuked entire hard discs in the past because of my ignorance, like when you choose drive zero to format then further on it says “Are you sure you want to format drive 4”…. You don’t say which machine you’re using but if it’s one of the modern ones which use SD cards (Raspberry Pi, Beagleboard etc.) as the main hard disc, I suggest copying !Hform to a Ram disc, temporarily unplug the main SD card, then run !Hform from Ram disc just in case you select the wrong drive.
