VERY important notice to IYONIX softloaders...

Do you run the softload 5.15 ROM on your IYONIX? If so, you should treat it with extreme caution! I’ve been thinking about this: we’ve had a number of largely untested changes to system critical components, not least the FileCore module. If any of these changes are faulty, data on your hard drive may be permanently damaged or lost. So, I have two suggestions:
Only if you understand the risks should you be trying the 5.15 ROM softload. |

I’d just like to reiterate this. Although I don’t plan to break the Iyonix 5.15 ROM image, neither do I actually test most of my changes on my Iyonix. So although most of my recent DMAManager changes only affect the previously broken code that handles interrupt-driven buffer channels, which the Iyonix doesn’t use, it’s possible that my changes have adversely affected something the Iyonix does use, e.g. non-interrupt driven buffer channels, or list channels. Sometime soon I’ll set up a Tungsten build tree so I can properly test any changes I make to system-critical components. |

I’d like to add that our warnings are pre-emptive. We’ve experienced no problems or reports of problems which look anything like the type of thing we are advising about. Just be cautious! |
