Cortex-A8 Software Compatability List

Just to give you a heads up that I’ve now changed the compatibility list so its sorted in alphabetical order, to make it easier to see at a glance what software works and what does not. I presume you’re okay with that – It shouldn’t be too much of an overhead to keep it that way. And if it doesn’t it only takes me a minute in Excel to sort it. |

Thanks Alan, I was just debating sorting that into alphabetical order too! |

Well, I can’t see the list right now, but in MediaWiki (e.g. riscos.info, but not riscosopen.org) it’s easy to create column-sortable tables. Anyway, I’m always dubious of such lists – after all, there are many, many pieces of software which probably work just fine. Best just to list those with issues, which give a focus for things to be fixed. |

Hopefully this is something that the new wiki (that Andrew H. is working on) will be able to provide, when its implemented. Hopefully the new wiki will provide more flexibility. Certainly would be useful. In the meantime, I’ve just uploaded a list of Service Calls. but I don’t know it developers would prefer it sorted by name or number. Any preference? |

Don’t think Instiki provides any such thing; all content is ‘dumb’, that is, consists of plain markup. We are restricted to using Ruby On Rails applications so that everything integrates with shared style templates and the Hub single sign-on mechanism. Sadly Rails seems to lack a decent Wiki (it’s not too good for forum software either). Wagn is interesting but too complex and unstable IMHO. Informl is a fusion of Wiki and forms, which sounds closer to the requirements here, but development stopped in about 2007. |

I’d say sorting it by number is best. People can easily use the find function in their browser to find the right entry on the page if they know the (partial) name but not the number. For the HAL docs I do have the entry points listed by both function and number, but they do fit into logical groups a lot easier than the service calls. |
