Is there any way to filter the threads I want to read on the recent posts page. Basically I’d like to block certain threads so I don’t have to wade through them. |

If you’re using a PC (and you probably are) then Firefox and the update scanner add-on will allow you to pick out new posts on the main forum page or on individual forum sub-pages. I presume the Open Source thread is creating noise you, understandably, don’t want. |

Alternatively, try using the recent posts RSS feed, rather than the page, with a suitable reader1. Some do provide filtering options. On RISC OS, that might include a Messenger Pro/Hermes combination – ISTR one/the other/both allow you to receive RSS feeds and read them as though they were emails or usenet posts. If so, I’d hope Messenger Pro’s filtering can be used.
That was my first guess, too, strangely enough. It’s certainly resulted in a lot of posts in a short time. |

You can also use the RSS feed to add a live RSS bookmark and just ignore the threads you’re not interested in. Like this: |

It looks like a classic troll, but quite subtle. The bait was tasty and it has been swallowed hook, line and sinker. |

I got to that line of thinking while well lubricated from my Leominster journey1. 1 It was a business meeting, honest. CAMRA business and we are sincere about our support of the market |

Nope, Steve; I’m good as gold thanks. Keep calm and carry on! – Sorry Colin, I guess this forum is quite low traffic, I shall try not to cause any overloads from now on ;) |

Mentally? Mightn’t be the cleverest solution, but I think it is likely to be quicker and less hassle than identifying threads that aren’t interesting, finding some way of hiding them, and keeping that in sync with what does/does not interest you. Just flick, scroll, or hit Page Up. It’s easier. |
