Depends on how you define alternative and native. One might say Linux is an alternative that runs natively on low cost hardware. Android too, sort of. |

R-Comp are good at hiding their light… Basically, the machine is based on the Wandboard with an OS build tailored to use the features. OS features still under development so some of the board capabilities are not utilised or not to the full. They do sell kits as well as complete pre-built machines but that’s not obvious from their web site. |

We have not done a big website-based sales thing for ARMX6 because the machine has had a long backlog of orders all year. At any given time there have been (and continue to be) double-digit queues. We build and ship as fast as possible! Given the situation, I’ve purposely shied away from doing much/any promotion because I believe it unfair to spend time promoting when we can’t provide people with a machine immediately (unless in extreme circumstances). It seems wrong to be spending time advertising when we’re already struggling to build fast enough. Please don’t get me wrong – we’ve been very grateful to have this problem! We also don’t advertise any non-complete features. For example, the system was launched with only claims of 1920×1200 @ 60hz graphics. We can now do up to 4k resolution (3840×2160), AFAIK the best graphics capability of any ARM/RISC OS hardware thanks to recent developments. This is backed up by a high performance CPU, hardware gigabit ethernet, native SATA which has been shipping for around a year now and so on. Unlike other dev boards, the i.MX6 architecture in ARMX6 is designed for commercial and automotive industries which require both long term availability and reliability. Indeed, i.MX6 has been live running dozens of RISC OS servers for the last year, and has proven far more stable than Iyonixes etc that they replaced. Gah, I said no advertising. My apologies. |

Nice to see advances in graphics, and storage. Hope, that you’ll find ways (developer) to make some second core experiments, or more validation of your existing software under Aemulor. Anyway, it’s good work :) |

For some considerable time the Morgan car company made hand made cars at the rate of nine per month (I think or it may have been nine per week) and always had a waiting list of more than a year. They resisted calls from Sir John Harvey-Jones to modernise and cut waiting lists but, nevertheless, remained successful. |
