NetSurf 3.4 and SharedUnixLib

I just installed NetSurf 3.4. Now I find that !PDFtest, GhostScript’s viewer, etc, all give me an error telling me I need SharedUnixLib 1.13 or higher. The version with Netsurf is 1.12. The puzzles are: I kept a backup and the module I was using is 1.10. If I try to go to http://www.riscos.info/downloads/gccsdk/sharedunixlib/system.zip I get a 403. So where is a copy of the SharedUnixLib module 1.13 I can get and use? This is a pest as I’m in the middle of trying to read a lot of PDFs! :-/ Jim |

I’m fairly sure I’ve just answered exactly this post in another thread. However, for completeness:
Those with ARMX6 might be most vulnerable, as R-Comp seem to be shipping software that needs the VFP-enabled SUL in their disc images. Unfortunately the low-profile, rushed release of those versions of GCC (done to placate people around these parts, IIRC) means many developers are probably unaware of the need to update to a newer SUL.
You’ll find 1.14 at http://www.riscos.info/downloads/gccsdk/latest/ Have you reported any of this to the NetSurf team, by the way? They can’t fix problems that they don’t know about… Also, how did you update !Boot and !System? Did you use the tools in Configure, or just do a filer copy? The tools in Configure should have refused to overwrite your 1.13 with the version from NetSurf’s download, as Installer checks module version numbers. If that failed to work, ROOL need to know. |

Yes, just to confirm the problem has now been fixed as discussed elsewhere. However I didn’t have 1.13 beforehand. I had SUL 1.10 and wasn’t getting the complaint about needing 1.13 until I’d replaced it with 1.12 ! That’s one reason I have been puzzled. Jim |

Earlier versions of NetSurf RMEnsured SUL 1.07 (Dev CI #3312 of 26 January, which I have here, does). |

NetSurf worked regardless. The problem was with other applications like !PDFtest and GhostScript. Trying to run those raised the error requiring 1.13. Yet they’d been happy with 1.10. The implication seems to be that something thinks that 1.10 is >= than 1.13. Jim |
