Suggestion: An "Introduce Yourself" thread

Hi, After reading Jerome Savidan’s recent post, it struck me that it might be a good idea to have an “Introduce Yourself” Forum page (or perhaps a thread sticky) so people new here (and perhaps to RISC OS) can say a quick hello, what machine they are using, where they live etc etc. This would aid existing members of the community in giving new users a friendly welcome, but also be useful in helping with those newbie issues they might be too daunted to post in e.g. “Community Support”. Just a thought. |

Hello. I’m mostly using a Pi; but I also have a Beagle xM, RiscPC, A5000, A3000, A310 with Arthur, E01S FileStore, BBC B… Most of that lot are about as “obsolete” as I am. I live on the planet known as Earth. More specifically, a European country where you can find some sort of snail mush in the freezer section of a supermarket. More specifically, the part notorious for having lots of militant pig farmers. You might have noticed a dash of sarcasm. That’s normal. Did I miss anything worth noting? |

Yes – you’re a long-term supporter of RISC OS and Frobnicate-publisher (which I still peruse and enjoy from time-to-time). The suggestion was especially for new users, but interesting to learn a bit more about existing users too! |

I think this is quite a sensible idea. The Lua-user’s wiki has a CastOfCharacters page which serves the same purpose. But it uses a much more flexible wiki engine than this forum’s. |

I’m Patrick, I don’t post here often. I’m interested in RISC OS and Acorn computers, and programming as a hobby. My other hobbies include stuff like music, bass guitar, video games (mostly Megadrive, super nintendo)
Do you still do much with it? What have you most recently used it for? I’ve recently become interested in the BBC Micro, my family had one and it was the first computer I ever used. I think we still have it in the roof, I might get it down and try playing around with it. |
