Sound with Raspberry Pi

Should the SOUND commands (BBCBasic)
work with Raspberry Pi ? I can hear
it respond to SOUND ON (and OFF), but
can’t get a tone :(

It should work. I think the problem could be that you’re expecting to hear sound from speakers connected to the audio socket on the Pi, but the sound is coming through the HDMI cable (or vice versa) – I remember having the same thing happen to me when I first got RISC OS running on the Pi. If it’s not that, then maybe you need to set the channel voice with the VOICE keyword or something.

It does work – check what you have in your CONFIG/TXT file, also what monitor do you have connected?

HDMI is the default if you have an HDMI monitor connected at start up. Audio via the jack is also the default. The defaults can be changed by CONFIG/TXT.

It’s beeping with ctrl-g
so I must be missing something
with my commands(even though
I’ve used BBCBasic for years
(but Windows version))

I was using:

10 SOUND 1,-15,50,10
20 GOTO 10

Which in the Windows version produces
a continuous tone, but here something
must be added.
