ZIP 250 on RPC

Working on 2 little projects.
I have 2x phoebe case, the first one has my pandaboard in it (what a waste of space)
The other has now a rpc motherboard – a lot more work
Everything is running now but the zip250 on the internal IDE bus is not working.
I can see the drive but can’t format a disk (!Hform stops with error ’this drive supports ATA 15 or so and then quits)
Do I need a kind of special driver or software for it ?
The phoebe case did need a lot of cutting metal, change buttons and a lot of new cables (ie longer ones)
on/off switch is now the old one one from an unused RPC -PSU, reset button: the case has one but on both never make a solid contact – solution one of the + – buttons from the audio is now a reset button.
Longer cables soldered for power LED and HDD
It has now 1 internal drive, 1 DVD burnewr and 2 IDE drives on a Blitz interface (but the Blitz has to return to his owner….

Things to do:
-made a solid connection for the podules
-Hunt for a slot loading CD or DVD (think I need a sort of SATA to IDE convertor , IDE slot drives are very rare I think.
I have a 100MB par port zip and this is working OK, but it won’t read 250MB disks

As I wrote, take the time you need with the Blitz.
Long time ago but as I remember I use PowerIDE with my Iomega Zip. Was a software solution for my Zip and my parallel CDROM. The Disc I should have as a Original….

I have the powerIDE software but it only works for parallel port drives, Partis does sell new drivers and there is a read-only version on their website, but that one is also parallel only,
I have an older one I think because it puts an ugly pre riscos 4 icon on the iconbar.
The drive is working, it sits now in a very old P4 system with winXP and i didn’t need any drivers or so,
On the blitz i can’t use the drive (same kind of error)

I thought PowerIDE was for partitioning ADFS drives, and PowerZip was for parallel port Zip drives.

Yup, my fault…
I have both but PowerIDE does nothing (It starts from Power-Tec manager software – no luck wit that one)
It let me only configure or partition parallel port zip drives, and not the internal one.
!ZipFS starts on !Boot.

It looks like it was PowerATAPI I use with the internal ZIP drive.

emailed partis for a driver, will wait for a few days
(the partis one is 15 uk pounds while the other is 24)
I don’t mind spent money but for a old drive not really usefull these days i rather look for the cheapest solution)

Remember most of the RPC’s here in the netherlands are machines lying under a desk for several years and you can most of the times pick them up for free or half a beer.
Funny to see that some folks still thinks that stuff is worth a lot of money.
I virtually have my 2 phoebe cases for nothing – only traffic for pick them up.

for 50 quid i have a raspberry with all bits to hav a working machine way faster as an old RPC.
