Machine Startup

I’ve just got my BeagleBoard xM up and running, and I’ve installed !Boot from the latest HardDisc4 tar.bz2 file.

When RISC OS boots, I get this message;
Machine startup has not completed successfully: ‘Escape’

Everything seems to be working fine, is this anything to be worried about?

Do you get this each time you reboot? I don’t know where the ‘Escape’ message is coming from. Is it worth asking whether the Escape key functions normally?

Yes this happens each time I reboot, I’ve tried the Escape key and it seems fine. Plus I’ve just tried a different keyboard too!

Do you get this message when going to the desktop without running the boot sequence?

Yes I get the same message without the boot sequence.

As I use a USB HDD, I’m building a ROM image that defaults to drive 4. Just to see if this makes any difference.

It shouldn’t AFAIK.

Sorted it!
I updated the CMOS file on the SD card to default to SCSI drive 4, now the machine boots properly!
