Well, it appears to be resolved. Replacing the generic 1GB USB stick I was using with a SanDisk 4GB Cruzer stick gave no waiting for boot disk error, instead going straight to the desktop. However, InstallHD4 aborts midway through, only creating a HD4 file in the RAM disk rather than the full harddisk structure. I overcame this by using the generic 1GB stick to create the RAM disk (no problem here) and then formatting the Sandisk for use as the harddisc. It all works well! Thank you everyone for all for your help – sorry the origin of the problem was rather mundane in the end! |
