Anyone tried an SSD with RISC OS

I’m idly wondering if anyone’s put an SSD into (say) an Iyonix and whether it made any appreciable difference. I’d be particularly interested to know if it affected RISC OS build times…

I haven’t had a SSD and have only used a slower than UDMA CF card, but I think you could expect improved read speads and not so different writes.
I have used !HDspeed to test a variety of mediums, and for file reading/writing Memphis beats Ramdisc by a factor of 2. If this is the area where the compiler is accessing the drive most, it could be worth trying.

I’ve put a CF card in a Risc PC (Samsung 8GB, selected to be as quick as possible), and it improves boot times by about 2-3×. Since it can’t be read speed, it’ll be the latency that makes a big difference.
