Pi with big SD card

Does anyone know the maximum size supported by a Pi running RISC OS for its boot SD card? Also do different versions of Pi differ? Found one that seems to be very good price/capacity: SanDisk 200GB Ultra |

Probably anything that can be validly formatted as a FileCore filing system. Does FileCore support 200GB drives?
The problem, in my experience, is not RISC OS but the Pi. Not all SD cards are equal. Not all SD controllers are equal. It’s better than the early days of IDE, mind you. ;-) |

I’ve been running a filecore-formatted 240GB SSD drive on a Pi2 for several months with no problems (5.23 date 02-4-16 non-HV). |

That answers that question then. ;-) |

The limit appears to be 256 GB; bigger drives will work but only the first 256 will be accessible. |

Unfortunately in our experience about half of drives over 256GB cause !HForm to fall over. IIRC ‘division by zero’ is one of the common errors:-( |

Thanks for all the responses! I was hoping to use one of my spare Pis (probably the B+) with a big SD Card as a backup – so you think I’d be OK as long as I stay below 256GB? |

Are you getting a bit mixed up here Glen is talking about SD cards, Chris and rick are talking about SSD drives the largest SD card that has been seen to work is 128Gb the largest SSD Drive that works is a 256GB. |

Sorry, I was on the phone so my post was a bit brief. Rick was asking about FileCore’s limits; it seems that SDFS has its own lower limit (which I wasn’t aware of until now!). Sorry for any confusion. |

Is the SDFS limit clarified anywhere, or is it that cards over 128GB are accessed in a different manner? Oh, and sorry… Growing up with EPROMs and such, I find those sorts of capacities in an SD card to be utterly insane. |

Not sure about SDFS limit just working on the SD card that I have, the largest one that worked was a 128Gb Samsung card. |
