Yes please! I’ve uploaded an IOMD live image here, together with a copy of the PhysRAM test prog. I’ve disabled CMOS read/write in the live image, so there shouldn’t be any danger of it mucking with your machine settings, or failing to boot due to modules being unplugged, etc. I’ve also removed the high-res desktop/ROM app sprites, which allowed me to fit it into a 16MB ROM image (which was then compressed down to 6.2MB). On my 32MB RiscPC it boots up with about 11MB spare. |

Excellent, thanks. I shall make a live cd and try it. Nice to know it works with 32MB RAM. |

*physram This is with a Kinetic 128 on the kinetic, 128+32 on motherboard + 2 VRAM It loads your softload, but without the kinetic RAM. In future versions, would it be possible to have a different MDF (with 1600 × 1200 as a choice), and is there anyway to make the size of RAM disk dependent on the amount of free RAM? (Obviously these two are very low priority) thanks |

Thanks – that looks like it should be enough info for me to get softloads working on 64MB and 128MB cards. Maybe 256MB as well, although that’ll involve a bit of guesswork.
Yes, that should be possible. It might be worth adding a simple boot menu, similar to the ones you get with some Linux live images. That way people can select the RAM disc size, MDF/screen mode, mouse type, network settings, etc. |

I tried a 256 in my machine, but it didn’t work. I’m not sure if it’s the card or the OS or both that don’t support it. A menu would be nice, though I would expect that one MDF would do, if it had all the important modes, 800 × 600 seems a sensible start up. |

To use a 256MB SODIMM in a Kinetic you must have RISC OS 4.39 in ROM. Also the Kinetic is rather picky, I have a pile here of SODIMMs that aren’t Kinetic compatible :-( |

Yes.
I suspect that is the one. So all kinetic cards are compatible with certain 256 Modules? Thanks |
