Beta testing : First Person Shooter and Defender Clone

Hopefully in around 4 weeks time I’ll have a couple of games ready for beta testing.

At present I’m working on two titles, one or both of which will be ready for testing in October:

• a first person shooter zombie game.
• a game based on Defender.

I hope to find up to a maximum 4 beta testers.

Please reply to this thread if you would like to test these games around the start of October.

Back to some late night coding & graphics/video transcoding……..

A Defender style game (Protector) was released at the London show. I’m just making a few minor improvements & fixes to it at the moment before I upload to the Plingstore.

David, Rob and Rick – I will send out Protector to you by Thursday evening to try. I will upload Protector to the Plingstore very soon.

The Zombie game is not quite ready yet, but may be ready before Christmas for beta. I’m trying to get the scale matching correct between the sprite and vector graphics at the moment.

I’m sending out RC2 tonight.

Notable differences from the game play in Defender:

• Collisions with the planet are not fatal
• It is not currently possible to pick up the lifeforms and they will not die if they fall to the planet.

Improvements from RC1 release at the London show:

• Bigger particles and better explosions.
• Mutants are harder to kill.
• Ship sweeps from side to side.
• Better scoring.
• Various bug fixes & other minor improvements.

If the game plays ok, I’ll release this version to the Plingstore.

I have some planned upgrades including:

• A high score table
• More aliens
• Power ups

n.b. As usual :

• The game features original music tracks produced with professional synthesisers (including my own Wavebox synthesiser).
• RDSP is used to supply in game sound effects.
• The game features 16 million colour graphics

I have now added:

• 2 more alien types not present in other games of this type.
• Slowed down a couple of aliens to make them easier to hit.
• Improved the laser.
• Added a nice alien entrance effect.
• fixed a couple of minor bugs

I will be uploading this to the Plingstore and releasing later on tonight I hope & will try and do a video capture of game play
