Staggered start-up of applications

I need to launch three apps, with a delay of perhaps 30 seconds or so between them, when the machine starts up. Is there already such a thing for RISC OS? I’ve tried searching the web, but I haven’t found a search term that returns anything relevant.

Clearly I could write an app scheduler quite easily, but it seems to me like a wheel that must have already been invented.

I often find it easier to reinvent the wheel than to search the literature for prior art…
