Yes: https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Generic%20OMAP%20port%20setup%20information Doing it manually is a bad idea, because it’s very fiddly and the likely result will be something like your experience. |

If you download one of the pre-built images, then flash it was win32diskimager (or whatever), that should work. You’ll need to update the uboot.bin file, I think, to cope with modern Xm boards. I’d offer to do it for you, but if anyone charges you money (eg. to cover the cost of the SD card), they’d need to pay for the RISC OS licence, so you’d be looking at a higher cost. I’d be happy to do that for you, but obviously I need to be clear up front. |

The guide recommends that you download SDCreate even if you can’t run it, because it contains documentation which will show you how to set up the card manually. The text file !SDCreate/!Help in the SDCreate zip is what you’re after. To eliminate one possible cause, it’s very important that the first file you copy onto the SD card is ‘MLO’, otherwise the board won’t boot. Alternatively, I see there’s a number of ‘ready-to-go’ images: https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Ready-to-go%20SD%20card%20images But it says the BeagleBoard-xM one is out of date! EDIT: Bloody Textile, what was I supposed to have done there, eh? There’s no end to the random combinations of punctuation this forum will take a sudden dislike to… |

Thank you Andrew, Thank you again Thank you also to Martin for his help. : ) |

I’m probably the one person who can’t do that for you, Matteo, as I’m bound by my licences with Castle and RISC OS Ltd for the ARMini and Beagleboard Support Scheme – for me to distribute RISC OS images without that (chargable) licence would I think contravene my agreements. I’m not 100% sure, but I’m afraid I err on the side of caution wrt the OS licences. The card is in FAT format once imaged, so you can modify it via Windows/Mac or whatever. Don’t mess with MLO as it needs to be the first file on the disc, which is a pain. It is only uboot.bin that should need updating AFAIK. PS, I was trying not to advertise (but it does seem kinda relevant), but our Beagleboard Support Scheme includes a paid-for licence, and that frees my hands to help in the way you ask. Of course, it is a fair chunk of change just for this (which is why I didn’t mention it before), but you get access to everything an ARMini owner does (eg. enhanced hardware drivers, custom software for BB, extra software, Unicode typefaces and so on), plus lots of software/discounts, so the scheme may be at least worth considering – depends how keen on RISC OS you are, I guess. |

You have an email address you don’t mind putting here? |

Did you get it working in the end? |
Matteo (1478) 105 posts |
No because i cant access the sd card when written risc os over windows. But i’m waiting for a risc os open native usb stick i have bought. |
Trevor Johnson (329) 1645 posts |
Ah – OK. I hope it arrives soon! |
Andrew Rawnsley (492) 1445 posts |
AFAIK the usb stick still needs a suitable micro SD card in your BB, I’m afraid. I believe it just contains copies of the disc image from this website, plus the backdrops and some pd? Can I suggest you contact us via email (addresses at http://www.rcomp.co.uk/ or http://www.armini.co.uk/ ) as your problems can be sorted quite easily, I think. |
Trevor Johnson (329) 1645 posts |
Oh yes, of course it does! |

Sorry i don’t understand, the risk os open usb stick needs and extra SD card with the rom image installed? |
Trevor Johnson (329) 1645 posts |
Yes, that’s right. The stick includes the boot sequence, but the ROM needs to be on the SD card. As the writable image isn’t working for you, it might be worth contacting Andrew for advice as offered. |

Did the Generic OMAP port setup information not work at all? [Edit: What’s the issue with writing the image under Windows?] |
Matteo (1478) 105 posts |
I have read that for beagle board xm is need to copy MLO and U-boot inside the sd, my problem is that once written the image is not readable from windows, it say you have to format the disk before use it. |

i have written to r-comp and armini email but still no replay : ). |

Just got your email, Matteo, but forgive me for not dealing with work stuff at nearly 8pm on a Friday – I’m tired! |
Matteo (1478) 105 posts |

ISTR reading here that the BBxM.zip has issues to do with MLO or something. The files were made last summer, so could probably do with updating really. I hope it works, but don’t be too surprised if not. |
