What browser were you using? Speed depends very heavily on the browser in use.

I thought for a moment perhaps I’d been stupid and was comparing NetSurf previously and FireFox on the Mac when I said it wasn’t slow, but it must have been NetSurf, because it moved from the reference to the footnote and back, but now I’m on FireFox they’re both on screen at once.

There must be some other variable at work; no idea what.
