RISC OS General bounty

I’ve just closed (as completed) the ROOL Admin bounty. The problem with leaving it open was that it showed the total of all donations since we started the bounty, which gives a misleading impression of where we stand (it doesn’t reflect the fact that we’ve been spending from that pot!). What I’m intending to do from now on is create a new RISC OS General bounty each quarter so that the total is effectively reset to zero. Ideally, we’d have a way to reflect what we’ve actually been spending the cash on but that’s on the todo list for future developments of the bounty page. Some examples of where the existing money has gone is: attending a number of shows (Wakefield, Midlands, South West, London, Portsmouth), buying a few extra bits of kit, including a couple of RPis, lots of SD cards for development of SDFS, a printer, a couple of monitors to take along to shows and all sorts of miscellaneous stuff like SSL certificates, domain re-registration, hosting/bandwidth charges and the cloud server that we have been using for doing the nightly autobuilds. I’m sure there’s loads of other stuff, and we should probably try harder to keep track of it so we can publish the highlights so you know where your donations are going but I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated (to any of the bounties). Thanks for your support! |

Why is this “defunct and lost”? Have you tried emailing code and binary to them? Have you tried getting us on board with the testing? Have you done any sort of communication other than apparently attempting to post a hardcopy? (If ROOL are too busy to say ‘sure’ to a BBB port, WTF are they supposed to do with a hardcopy?) Tell you what – reply to this with a link to your USB project (source, binary, or both, your choice) and we can see how far you got and if this is something we can integrate into our own builds. |

In case anyone was wondering, the RISC OS General bounty is looking a little sad at the moment, but it’s actually not as sad as you’d think, because we’ve had a few takers of new our recurring (monthly) donations scheme which is fantastic! Many thanks to those who’ve contributed, be it to donations, source code changes, wiki page edits or voices in the forum. It’s much appreciated. |
