ModeFiles module?

I’ve just spotted that there’s a reference to a (closed-source) “ModeFiles” module in CVS, and it has a service call Service_SafeAreaChanged. Basically I’m wondering whether anyone has any information about the module and the service call.

It looks like the module was part of NCOS, so maybe something could be discovered by examining an NCOS machine.
