Porting files from old 3.5in discs

Hi, I’m trying to find a way to transfer my Basic programs that were developed on an Archimedes A310 back in the late ‘80s from 3.5inch floppy discs. I have managed to create an image file of a DD disc using OmniFlop but I can’t find a way to create a readable disc on PC or on the RPi. Even better would be a utility that can read the Archimedes format on the PC and allow files to be copied to the hard drive. Has anyone found a workable way of dealing with the image file or a utility to read the discs? Thanks, Stuart PS: I don’t want to unpack my old A310 – I don’t have the desk space, the Archimedes (or the monitor) probably won’t work and I can’t remember how to use the thing anyway – so that route is out unless I get really stuck! |

AFAIK there isn’t a way to read FileCore formatted disks under Windows. |

Thanks Richard. I’ll take a look. |

Linux is supposedly able to read ADFS-formatted floppy discs, though I’ve never tried it myself. You could use a live image (e.g. Ubuntu) and mount your floppies that way and copy the files that way (e.g. to a USB stick, and thereafter to your RPi). A couple of links that may be of assistance: |

Take the omniflop file you’ve made and copy it to the computer running RISCOS. Make sure you’ve installed ADFFS (http://adffs.filecore.net), set the filetype of the disc image to “Floppy” and you should be away. d. |
