Will RISCOS run on the new Raspberry Pi Zero?

I wish they’d stop giving prices in dollars.

The euro and the dollar are very similar, so why is the price on Farnell.fr €12,80 plus p&p?

Is the Magazine not in ASDA, Martins, WHSmiths, Tesco etc? I’m sure I’ve seen it in Tesco before

The Farnell price includes a “cables bundle”.

A nipped out to my local WHSmiths and bought one and can confirm it does run RISC OS.
RC14 ROM image or last nightly build works but it does need later firmware. The firmware available with Raspbian Jessie works!

Anybody offer to buy me a copy? There’s not a lot of English press over here. Just the Daily Effing Mail and the Radio Times.

I’ve been told Tesco have them, but as I’m stuck in hospital I’ve asked a friend to pick me up a copy later.

I hope somebody can pick one up for me. People have been slagging this off for not having ethernet and only one USB port (jeez, what d’you want for a fiver?).
Thing is… this, an OLED, RISC OS Pico, and some custom GPIO and it could be what is necessary to revive that old dead washing machine with some smarts that could rival these all-singing all-dancing models. I mean, do I mess around with Arduino or do I just write something in BBC BASIC and “leverage” code I’ve already written? ;-)

I’m thinking of shoehorning one into an XBone controller and connecting all the internals up directly to GPIO to avoid a USB driver.

Being ARMv5 it avoids all the messy ARMv7 translation code, perfect for retro gaming.

For future smaller models why not take the names from the Model Railway enthusiasts ?

It is the same problem with an A+.

This is quite nice and has a USB hub too. It works with RO5 out of the box, but you need the micro-to-A USB adaptor cable.

This is a lot cheaper and might be OK and work out of the box, but there are similar ones that do not. I had mine direct from China some months back at half that price. ;-)

You are right about the train scales, (memory error)
it is over 60 years since my last dabble in model railways..

USB to Ethernet can be difficult!

We have five or six here that we bought in for use with the Pi Compute Development (PCD) system and the only one that works reliably on the PCD or PiZero is a NewLink unit that people used to use with BeagleBoards, apart from being expensive it is no longer made:-(

We are currently looking at alternatives.

Also we recommend the adaptor having its own power.

USB to Ethernet should be simple. Just look for an adapter compatible with the Nintendo Wii. They have the AX88772 chipset that works fine with RISC OS.
