Fantastic … can you post a simple “how to” for get pandaboard booting and running without !SDCreate? |

You can simply copy the files using a card reader on any computer onto the SD card. I think you have to copy the MLO file first. Anyhow, get hold of the !Help file, it’s a text file, inside the SDCreate directory and read that – it’s not very long and will probably tell you all you need to know. |

Yes, you need to get the correct files for your pandaboard as many of the files are machine specific. There are 5 files: MLO, U-BOOT/SCR, BOOT/SCR, RISC OS and CMOS. You should be able to download these from the ROOL website. BOOT/SCR is in the scripts directory inside the SDCreate directory. Somebody more knowledgable will come along soon and help. |

I’m having problems too trying to get the latest ROM going on my Pandaboard. The board just sits at a blank screen with both LEDs on :( tomorrow I will find a USB serial cable for my laptop to connect up and try to debug. If I replace my panda/RISCOS boot.scr with one for Ubuntu and copy an Ubuntu kernel on it tried to boot do hopefully my MLO and u-boot.bin are ok. I got both of them from a prebuilt Ubuntu image I’ve been running on the Panda till now. Not sure where I’m going wrong but I guess I need to get serial working to really debug it. |

The forthcoming Archos G10 XS docking tablet is rumoured to use the OMAP4470. |

@Gareth Woolridge, have you tried the files from Chris Gransden: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/984#posts-11474 |

Following the ICS updates and associated issues (mine’s a B6O model), I’m waiting for a stable version which I can try to backup before attempting the Ubuntu install. |

Has anyone started porting efforts for the archos g9 101 tablet? I found that since mid may a special developer edition ( = multiple boot possibility ) for the tablet is available. And i have the tablet here… Hopefully i will be able to find some information about the additional hardware apart from the Omap 4460 used in that tablet. Anyone? |

There’s an interesting mITX form factor board due out: Designed for manufacturers of embedded systems to directly replace an x86 mITX board so all the standard fittings. |

@Trevor no, I had not. Thanks a lot. |

I wish Raspberry had done this. (Or even made a model c in this sort of form.) |

Maybe when the full data specs are available this might be viable. |

In a few months we might be at the point where programmers can start experimenting with multi-core code. But it’s hard to say how long it will take for that to translate into useful software from a user’s perspective.
Possibly. Mali and Adreno GPUs have semi-capable open source drivers for some models. But of course the big problem is the “semi-capable” and “some models” aspects. Reverse-engineering GPUs isn’t easy! |
