RC15 on very early R-Pi

I have created an SD card image of RC15 and the first R-Pi that I tried it on is a very early model B without any mounting holes. I think that this is v1.0. The R-Pi boots OK so it is obviously reading the FAT partition but it fails to acknowledge SDFS and reports that the disc drive is empty.
I then tried the SD card on a later model B with the extra shorter IO connector and 512Mb RAM and it works fine.
Is anyone else running RC15 on such an early R-Pi? What might be the problem here please?

Did you try with RC14? “drive empty” error is normally linked to a faulty SD card detector. A common issue on first Pi.

Both RC14 and RC15 work on my revision 1 (0002) Pi, a model 1 B 256M with no mounting holes. Try pushing the SD card in a little more firmly.

I’ve now looked at this a little more closely and have concluded that the SD card socket is worn. I got this board from another user and I guess that an SD card must have been in and out hundreds of times before I got it. The slides at each side are worn and the card is no longer forced into the card present switch by the depression in the side of the card. It is interesting that the boot sequence on the FAT partition takes no account of the switch, but RISC OS does. I have now taken that R-Pi out of service until I can replace the socket. Nota: Linux does not read the switch state too. That’s why some faulty boards are considered as OK.
