We're here to guide all RISC OS users

With a little help from our friends at CJE Micro’s we’re now delighted to be able to offer a free download of the User Guide for the latest stable release of RISC OS 5.
Working with the community to make things happen
This second edition User Guide for RISC OS 5.28 has benefitted from various corrections and suggestions from eagle eyed users, plus coverage of the new features too.
Previously, the font licensing has restricted its distribution to only RISC OS Open being able to publish this book. Following discussions on the ROOL forum and at the Wakefield Virtual Show this year, CJE Micro’s have generously stepped forward and paid the extra required to allow ROOL to upgrade that font license for a more permissive one, which allows anyone else to republish this document.
With that barrier removed it’s now back once more for you to enjoy.
It should also be noted that as this book forms a part of the RISC OS Open Source release, it is also published under the Apache 2.0 License.
What’s inside?
The book covers everything a RISC OS user needs to know to make best use of the OS, from beginner’s concepts such as navigating menus, setting up and configuring, through to a detailed description of each of the supplied applications and utilities. It weighs in at sixty one chapters spanning over six hundred pages.
Getting your copy
The User Guide is available from our downloads page now.
Paper copies are also available to buy if you prefer, and via online book retailers (search for ISBN 0993194877), as well as appearing on the Collector’s CD.
Well done all. A very welcome addition. Thank you!
Very important that things such as the User Guide are 100% free and available for anyone who is curious to try RISC OS.
So a big thank you for CJE Micro’s for rectifying this.
