After a short interlude, the London show is back in a new venue this Saturday the 26th October from 11am. The organisers have lined up an impressive list of exhibitors, all bringing the latest software and hardware developments in the RISC OS world for you to explore.
Lion on the loose
Our recent inductee to the RISC OS Stable Release hall of fame, the OMAP5 port, will be available on a new micro SD card, bundled with the disc image and bonus applications. RISC OS ‘Lion’ sits alongside RISC OS ‘Panda’ (for the OMAP4 Pandaboard) and RISC OS ‘Beagle’ (for the OMAP3 Beagleboard and derivatives) as an easy way to get started with these single board computers.
Of course if you prefer to roll your own that’s fine too, an updated SDCreate is in the works to burn the magic boot files onto a card.
Stylish attire
We’ll be unveiling the new Issue 4 Style Guide, which builds upon the 2015 edition, and has been updated to include topics such as drag and drop between Wimp icons, the TreeView and Tabs gadgets which are now bundled with the Toolbox, plus various cosmetic and typographical corrections.
All 154 pages are available for the same low price – just £15 – or use your developer number for a further 20% discount.
Stream it all for free
There’s even something new for those who aren’t able to make it to London: an updated SparkFS 1.57 has been released to coincide with the show weekend. This has an updated Zip handler which now decompresses ‘streamed’ Zip files (these use special Zip file format sometimes generated on-the-fly by web services) following work by David Pilling. Version 1.57 also includes a handful of other minor fixes.
Venue details
Shows are the perfect opportunity to meet and talk to fellow RISC OS users and developers about what they’re doing with our favourite operating system. In the show theatre hear about all the latest developments for the OS and what to look forward to in the not too distant future.
Getting there by any mode of transport should be easy, with Kenton tube station less than half a mile away.
