NetSurf users can't add new tickets

All appears well until the form is submitted. Although the author field is filled in from the user’s Hub account name, the “Author can’t be blank” error is returned. The resulting form has no author field filled in this time so it cannot be submitted.
Noted in Netsurf 30-Dec-2006. OK in Oregano 2.2.18.

Noticed validation errors for the “new ticket” page; fixed those in Changeset #196, but it hasn’t made any impact for this particular fault. I can’t see anything wrong in the HTML but it really does look like the hidden input field value is not making its way through to the server intact.
I’ve posted a query about this on the NetSurf mailing list.
