Ticket #152 (Fixed)Thu Oct 25 20:42:11 UTC 2007
A preview mode for wiki and forum postings
Reported by: | Theo Markettos (89) | Severity: | Enhancement |
Part: | Web site: General (miscellaneous issues) | Release: | 2nd public site release |
Milestone: | Status | Fixed |
Details by Theo Markettos (89):
It’s a little disconcerting to write a wiki page or posting without a preview feature – you might mangle your formatting and produce an unreadable post, which you can’t test without publishing it to the world. A preview would make life much easier.

If this were closed, then the Ticket #164 could be too.

Is rool/rails/beast/trunk/app/views/posts/edit.rhtml the right place for the relevant code? If so, I’m willing to trawl the railsforum for something we could use/adapt.

If this were closed (including a preview when editing an existing post) then Ticket #169 may be perceived to be of lesser importance.

Note that the following claim doesn’t seem to apply to the version we have here:

- Status changed from Open to Fixed
Closing this on two grounds:
- You can use a preview here in a pinch and this is linked to from the page editor now
- The “time interval” comment was a hangover from way back when we used “old” Instiki, before I2. I2 did indeed create spurious new revisions. Instiki’s now back in use again and it coalesces them. It even did so during the data migration, so historical minor repeated revisions issued by the same author within 30 minute periods were automatically coalesced in passing.
