Ticket #332 (Fixed)Tue Jan 01 12:48:03 UTC 2013
Add encrypted password support to LanManFS / Omni Client
Reported by: | Marko Oette (1828) | Severity: | Enhancement |
Part: | RISC OS: Module | Release: | |
Milestone: | Status | Fixed |
Details by Marko Oette (1828):
Currently LanManFS / Omni Client only support unencrypted SMB/CIFS passwords.
This makes current Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8 etc.) machines inaccessible to RISC OS users per default.
Only if they would buy LanMan98 or breach the security of their Windows boxes by disabling encrypted passwords (as described in work around) the could access them.
TODO:
Add support for encrypted passwords in LanManFS.
Work Arounds (requires modifications on the server side):
- Windows: Change ‘HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkStation\Parameters\EnablePlainTextPassword’ to 1 and reboot the machine.
- On an Mac OSX machine you need to edit the etc\smbconf-file. Go to [GLOBAL] and change “encrypt passwords = yes” to “encrypt passwords = no” reboot OSX.
