Not all supported modes are made available with compatible monitors
Reported by: | Cameron Cawley (3514) | Severity: | Normal |

Milestone: | Status | WorksForMe |
Details by Cameron Cawley (3514):
The Dell 2408WFP monitor is capable of displaying 1280×800 screen modes using the DMT timings (as described here ), however it doesn’t get included in the generated MDF, meaning that it can’t be used as the desktop screen mode (unless AnyMode is installed), and it’s not included when using SaveModeFile to use the MDF on systems without EDID support.

1280×800 isn’t a supported mode according to the user manual for the 2408WFP model (see attached manual).
In addition, the EDID data doesn’t list DMT modes 0×1B or 0×1C or 0×1D or 0×1E or 0×1F (the 1280×800 ones) as supported either. There’s a handy online decoder here https://hverkuil.home.xs4all.nl/edid-decode/edi… if you want to see the DMT modes that are listed.
Having done a *SaveModeFile and checking each mode off the list from the above EDID decoder, all the modes that are in the EDID are in the MDF.
