SamplePlayer doesn't load Replay files using the old ADPCM codec
Reported by: | Cameron Cawley (3514) | Severity: | Normal |
Part: | RISC OS: Software library | Release: | |
Milestone: | Status | Open |
Details by Cameron Cawley (3514):
When attempting to play such a file, !Player throws an “ADPCM sample rates can only be taken from those in the menu list” error, and attempting to play it results in audio that’s recognisable but heavily distorted. These files can be recognised by the use of compression type 1 with 4 bits per sample (instead of compression type 2 like the newer codec that is supported), and AFAIK the original decoder was never updated for 16-bit sound support.

I’ve attached a file that uses this codec, which originates from a demo of Gwen goes to School from Acorn User CD 1.
