You can generate any character on the keyboard (and quite a few that aren’t on the keyboard) by holding down the Alt key and typing the character code on the numeric keypad. For example, Alt-163 would produce a £ symbol with the Latin1 alphabet.
Some special characters can also be produced by pressing Alt and a letter key. A full list cannot be given for copyright reasons, but a few minutes experimentation should allow the user to construct a list for themselves.
A few accented letters can be generated by pressing Alt and one of the characters [ ] ; ’ , . / followed by the letter you want the accent applied to. This table lists the available accented characters for the Latin1 alphabet.

Three keys on the bottom row of the keyboard (the two “flag” keys and the “menu” key) can be configured to perform predetermined actions. This is done via Configure > Keyboard which allows you to assign a command to each of the keys. For example, you can set a key to open a directory or run an application by dragging the appropriate icon to the input field on the Keyboard configuration window.
