Add entry to table:
To: Minimise a window to the Pinboard
Do this: Click on the Iconise icon.
Notes: See Using the Pinboard on page 66. (Copy minimised icon across from page 74/52)
For “Close a directory display and open its parent”, remove the first paragraph from the Notes (Adjust click on Open Parent) – this doesn’t work and from what I can tell it never has.
In the last table row, change “pinboard” to “Pinboard”.
_Change last paragraph to “…which you can set using the Time and date setup plug-in, described on page 112.”
Add entry to table:
To: Sort files in the opposite order
Do this: Choose Filer/Display/Reverse sort.
Notes: This reverses the usual sort order, for example when sorting by name the files will be in descending alphabetical order, and when sorting by size the files will be in ascending order of size.
Add entry to table for “Numerical sort” – I’m not actually sure what this does though!
Change following paragraph to:
A name must contain at least one character. The number must not contain a space or any of the following characters:
Update “Rename a file” as follows:
Do this: Type the new name in the File/Rename/Name writable menu box.
Notes: Filenames mustn’t contain spaces or any of these characters: $ & % @ \ ^ : . , # * " | Most filing systems are not case-sensitive (the NFS filer is case sensitive).
Update “Rename a file on a DOS disc or partition” as follows:
Do this: Type the new name in the File/Rename/Name writable menu box.
There is a comment about the desktop only using 16 colours. While it’s technically correct when not themed, many app icons use more than 16 colours so should this sentence be removed?
In the paragraph following the EIG list (ie. before step 1), change “less pixels” to “fewer pixels”.
In the second row, change “pinboard” to “Pinboard”.
Update the last “Do this” as follows:
Click on the Iconise icon, or hold down Shift and click on the Close icon.
Update as follows:
To: Arrange icons neatly on the Pinboard
Do this: Select the icons and choose Selection/Tidy.
Notes: Changing screen display resolution may cause icons to disappear off the edge of the screen; Tidy in combination with Select all brings them back.
To: Lock icons onto an invisible grid on the Pinboard
Do this: Choose Configure, then switch Arrange pinned objects on a grid on and click on Set.
Notes: (Remove these notes; they’re no longer correct.)
To: Remove an icon or selection from the Pinboard
Do this: Select the icon and choose Selection/Remove.
To: Select all icons on the Pinboard
Do this: Choose Select all.
Notes: You can also choose an item from the Select all submenu if you only wish to select files or windows.
Choose Clear selection to de-select icons.
First paragraph is OK. Change subsequent to:
To display a picture, click Menu over the Pinboard and choose Configure. Drag the sprite file icon to the Custom image icon and click on Set.
Next paragraph is OK, then:
Custom image also has options for finer control of backdrop pictures:
Scaled has the effect of scaling the sprite to fill the whole screen.
Centred (Change “grey space” to “plain space”)
Other paragraphs are OK.
You can remove a backdrop picture by choosing Standard image or Plain colour. This does not delete any files, or remove any icons from the backdrop.
Change “Screen configuration window of !Boot” to “Standard image option”. (reference to page 106 is still correct)
Remove “Note” from below screenshot
Change last sentence of first paragraph to “… which you can set using the Time and date setup plug-in, described on page 112.”
Rename heading to “Confirm all”
Add new heading for “Confirm deletes”
This does the same as Confirm all, but only prompts you when deleting files.
If Verbose is switched on, you can click on Faster on any of the standard Filer dialogue boxes, such as those you get with copying, finding, deleting and moving.
In the table, change “adfs:” to “ADFS:” for consistency with the image.
