This archive contains the standard disc based components delivered for use withRISC .util
file OS. is the version to use in conjunction with the ‘InstallHD4’ script contained within the‘Beagle ROM’ zipfile and the instructions on the Generic OMAP port setup information page.
(The .tar.bz
file ‘HardDisc4’ listed under Collections of pre-built components is not self-extracting and is unsuitable for use with the automated script.)
This is a universal disc image, suitable for use with RISC OS 3.10 or later. Note that the ‘System resources’ download is also required for users with pre-RISC OS 5 machines.
This is the RISC OS 5 disc image. It includes all of the disc-based components required to boot and run a RISC OS 5 system, including:
Set the filetype to “Utility” (&FFC) and double-click on the file. The contents will be unpacked in-situ, after which the contents of the “HardDisc4” directory can be copied to the root directory of the target disc. If you are using a USB flash drive, you can speed up the process by unpacking the archive in a RAM disc (60MB recommended) and then copying the unpacked files to the flash drive.
This is a self-extracting code download. Simply download onto a Note for BeagleBoard/PandaBoard usersRISC: If you are planning on using this HardDisc4 image to set up a system for the first time, you will need to rename the file to “HardDisc4/util” before running the OS system, ensure the filetype is set to ‘Utility’ (&InstallHD4FFC obey file. See ) via the Filer menu and then double-click to run it. The contents will be decompressed into the same directory.Generic OMAP port setup information for full details of the process.
If you wish, you can run from the command line by simply running the file and optionally pass a destination directory as a parameter (to avoid decompressing into the same location as the self-extracting archive). E.g.
*SetType $.HardDisc4/util Utility
*Run $.HardDisc4/util $.temp
If you are upgrading an existing RISC OS 5 installation to RISC OS 5.24, you can use the supplied “InSituBootUpgrade” obey file to update the !Boot directory. The remainder of the contents of the HardDisc4 directory (Apps, Utilities etc.) can be used to replace older versions of those applications.
Note If that you if will extracting be to/from using an this SD archive card on via a USB RISC card OS reader 3 you’ll or need to be very patient. This can be avoided by doing the entire extraction on the RAM RISC disc OS (40MB 4 installation, you will be also more need than the adequate) ‘System before resources’ moving download to from your the memory stick.Miscellaneous Downloads page.
