The new document window will open with input focus – which you can tell from the yellow title bar. This means your typing goes to this window.
The title of this window is “<untitled>”. Once you’ve saved the document somewhere, this will change to the name of the file. When a document has been modified since it was last saved, there will normally be a “*” character at the end of the window title.
One extremely useful icon on virtually all RISC OS windows is the “back” icon (top-left) which pushes a window to the back, behind any other open windows. Clicking on the title bar will pull the window back to the front.
