Software information: Nightly Beta HardDisc4 (self-extracting)

Overview

This archive contains the standard disc based components delivered for use with RISC OS.

• !Boot – the boot application required by the operating system.
• Apps – for those applications not built into the operating system already.
  Includes !CloseUp, !Maestro, !Omni, !SciCalc, !Squash
• Diversions – games and amusements.
  Includes !Blocks, !Flasher, !Hopper, !Madness, !MemNow, !Meteors, !MineHunt, !Patience, !Puzzle
• Documents – sample files for use with the other applications.
• Printing – the printer manager and related tools.
  Includes !FontPrint, !PrintEdit, !Printers
• Public – an empty network folder for sharing with other users.
• Utilities – occasional applications to perform specific tasks.
  Includes !Access+, !ChangeFSI, !HForm, !Patch, !ResetBoot, !ShowScrap, !SparkFS, !T1ToFont, !Usage

This self-extracting version of the archive can only be unpacked on a RISC OS 5 system. Users of RISC OS 3 or RISC OS 4 should download the .ZIP version of this archive instead.

Installation instructions

New install

• Set the filetype to “Utility” (&FFC) and double-click on the file. The contents will be unpacked in-situ. If you are using a USB flash drive, you can speed up the process by unpacking the archive in a RAM disc (60MB recommended).
• Copy the contents of the “HardDisc4” directory to the root directory of the target disc.

Upgrading an existing system

• Set the filetype to “Utility” (&FFC) and double-click on the file. The contents will be unpacked in-situ.
• Next, update the !Boot directory (e.g. via Configuration > Boot sequence > Install).
• Finally, use the contents of the other directories (Apps, Utils etc.) to replace older versions of those applications.
